EVH Wolfgang® Special, Ebony Fingerboard, Stealth Black

The EVH Wolfgang Special is a very highly specified rock guitar, equipped with all the tools that the modern rock guitarist requires.

The pickups are custom-designed Alnico 2 humbuckers, with strong output and sustain. The electronics include Bourns potentiometers, which are now difficult to source. The volume pot is low friction, but the treble pot is high-friction to reduce the risk of accidental adjustments.  The locking tremolo is a Floyd Rose. The smooth ebony fingerboard has jumbo frets and a 12-16-inch compound radius, so no ‘choking’ when bending notes on the higher frets. The fretboard sits on a quartersawn satin-finished maple neck with graphite reinforcement.

Unusually, this guitar features a D-Tuna as standard – this enables the player to switch from standard to drop D and back on the 6^th string with a quick and easy tug or push on the D-Tuna. If you are unfamiliar with the use of the D-Tuna, read up on it to satisfy yourself that it is for you before buying, but don’t be put off by those who say it doesn’t work – it just needs some careful setup.

The condition is excellent, with a few light pickup marks on the body, but no other discernible marks.

The attention to detail in the specification and build of this guitar makes it truly a ‘Special’ model. For some reason, this is WGM212850 – the website needs the ‘M’ at the end of the serial number to be moved in order to work.

This latest version of this model is available new for around £1300, so this package which includes a new soft case represents excellent value.
