Fender Mexico Standard Stratocaster, 60th Anniversary Upgrade model

Mexican-made Fender guitars fill an important niche, in that they encourage players who are new to guitar to get on and play, yet also provide more experienced players with an affordable solution for light or medium professional work. These guitars look the part, are well built, and can be set up to play beautifully - as is the case with this Mexican Standard Stratocaster.

This 2006 guitar is one of Fender's 'Upgrade' models, and is a 60th Anniversary model released to commemorate the company's 60th year (not the 60th  anniversary of the Stratocaster model, which came on 2014). 

This example is heavy by Stratocaster standards, and is resonant with very good sustain, even with the light .009 gauge strings fitted to match the original specification. The pickups have staggered polepieces and give the full range of tones expected of a Stratocaster. The guitar was part of a collection and is in almost unplayed condition (protective film is still in place on the backplate). The 'Midnight Wine' finish is deep and is an attractive contrast to the light maple neck.

Originally these guitars shipped without a case, but this one comes with an aftermarket hard case in excellent condition, with key, a wrench for saddle-height adjustment, tremolo arm spring, new polishing cloth and Fender strap.
